About the journal
Restorative practitioner · Bruges, Belgium
I am Hadewych. Stillbalm Studio is a small restorative-bodywork practice in a single room with a north-facing window on a small lane in the older part of Bruges. The journal is the smaller writing I do alongside the work.
I trained in Antwerp in my mid-twenties — first in classical massage, then in restorative bodywork and craniosacral work in a longer programme in Brussels. I opened the studio in 2018. The practice is solo and likely to stay that way.
One room. One table. One window. A small wooden chest with a brass bowl on it. A few folded linens. The walls are painted a warm white. The floor is wood. There is nothing on the walls.
I see three to four people a day. The first session is at ten. The last ends by six. Between sessions there is an hour. The room is small and quiet and it does not handle being rushed.
The journal is small. The pieces are short. The writing is what I have learned in weeks of repeating something at the table.
It is, mostly, for me. The discipline of writing things down has changed how I work. It is also for the small group of people who have been at the table at some point and recognise the practice they are reading about. The pieces are short on purpose. The drafts are longer; what makes it to the site is what survives editing.
Sales. No products. No affiliate links.
Wellness shouting. The journal does not respond to whatever is being argued about online.
Medical claims. I am not a doctor. For anything medical, please see one.
The address is on the contact card in the welcome basket inside the studio door. I read everything that comes in. I answer as much of it as I can.
Thank you for reading. I am glad the journal has found you.
